Olkhon Island Extension
We invite you to visit the heart of the lake Baikal - the island of Olkhon, glorified in many legends. It is the largest of the lake's 30 islands and it contains 143 unique archaeological objects – graves, remains of ancient settlements, ruins, shaman worship monuments and many others. You will also be able to enjoy magnificent natural views, sandy beaches and even swim in the lake (average water temperature in July – August 18 degrees C).
Note: Most people visit Olkhon because of unique nature and spectacular views and do not really need services of an accompanying guide. There are no professional English speaking guides on the island, so a guide will have to travel from Irkutsk and stay with you on the island making the whole trip rather expensive. The most challenging part of travel arrangements in Olkhon Island is transport logistics and accommodation. With this in mind we have developed the below itinerary where your private driver will transfer your from Irkutsk and back and you will join a day long Russian group tour on the island visiting the main highlights of Olkhon.
If you prefer, we can arrange a private English speaking guide who will travel with you from Irkutsk. Your sightseeing tour on day 2 will also be with your private guide. The guide will leave the island in the morning on day 3, as on day 3 you have free time.
The tour price depends on the number of participants on your Go Russia booking. All prices are per person.
Number of participants | Not guided option | Guided option |
1 person | $975 | $1,595 |
2 people | $575 | $845 |
