Day 1
Ulan Bator - Dalanzadgad - Khongor Els Sand Dunes
We begin with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, before we are transferred to the airport for a flight to the Gobi base camp. First we depart for the remarkable Khongoryn Els sand dunes, that stretch 180 km (110 miles) at the foot of the striking Gurvan Saikhan Mountain range. We will stop for lunch on arrival. A fascinating afternoon awaits us – including a visit to a camel breeding family and camel riding to explore the dunes. Dinner and overnight in ger camp. Driving distance – 200 km (125 miles). (L/D).
Our journey commences with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, and soon after, we will be transferred to the airport for a flight to the Gobi base camp. Our first destination is the remarkable Khongoryn Els sand dunes, a sprawling stretch that extends for 180 kilometers (approximately 110 miles) at the base of the magnificent Gurvan Saikhan Mountain range. We will make a stop for lunch upon our arrival.The afternoon holds an array of captivating experiences, including a visit to a camel breeding family and the opportunity to explore the dunes on a camel ride. As the day comes to a close, we'll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a ger camp. The day's drive will cover a distance of about 200 kilometers, equivalent to 125 miles. (L/D).
Day 2
Bayan Zag
We will breakfast at the base camp, then will gradually backtrack to our main camp with a packed lunch. On the way we will visit Bayan Zag, the Flaming Cliffs, and explore the Cemetery of Dinosaurs, following in the footsteps of the explorer Roy Chapman Andrews. We will enjoy an evening of the silence of the Gobi Desert by overnighting in Mongolian gers. Driving distance – 80 km (50 miles). (B/L/D).
After having breakfast at the base camp, we will start our journey back to the main camp, where we'll enjoy a packed lunch along the way. During our return, we will visit Bayan Zag, famously known as the Flaming Cliffs, and explore the intriguing Cemetery of Dinosaurs, retracing the footsteps of the renowned explorer Roy Chapman Andrews. For the night, we will relish the serene ambiance of the Gobi Desert, with an overnight stay in traditional Mongolian gers. The driving distance for this leg of the journey will be approximately 80 kilometers, which is about 50 miles. (B/L/D).
Day 3
Yol Valley - Dalanzadgad - Ulan Bator
Breakfast at the base camp. We will conclude today with a visit to the fascinating Yol (Lammergeyer) Valley National Park (50 km, 32 miles) where we’ll have a morning trek and plenty of opportunity to photograph the stunning landscape, including the Gobi Glacier and intriguing wildlife. Late morning flight to Ulan Bator. Transfer to your hotel. (B).
Starting the day with breakfast at the base camp, our itinerary will conclude with a visit to the captivating Yol (Lammergeyer) Valley National Park, located 50 kilometers (approximately 32 miles) away. In the morning, we'll embark on a trek in this stunning landscape, providing ample opportunities for photographing the breathtaking scenery, which includes the Gobi Glacier and intriguing wildlife.Later in the morning, we will board a flight back to Ulan Bator. Upon arrival, we'll arrange for your transfer to your hotel in the city.(B).
