A descendent of nomads, from a small village in the Tuva region of Southern Siberia, Sainkho started out as a Russian singer, but then pursued the various vocal techniques of the Siberian lama and shamanistic traditions, as well as the local Tuvan and Mongolian throat / overtone singing (Khöömei). She is now a world-famous musician and has had successful tours in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Canada. Her voice spans seven octaves and encompasses avant-garde jazz, electronica, modern composition and Tuvan influences.
